"Sarkar Raj" is pastoral political over-drama matched by high performance from Amitabh Bachchan in first place and Abhishek Bachchan in the second. The script of the film looks inspired from real life politics of Maharashtra and the costumes and makeup is taken from political idols of the state. The film starts slow but later gets notable and the script is compact, dialogues are impressive, and background score matches the script.
In the film director expect the audience to be politically intelligent enough to imagine what might have happened in a few sequences and the climax like many of the Ram Gopal Verma films, gets unpersuasive with a few assumptions. The story is a sequel of previous film "Sarkar" and the director presumes the audience knows the first part. The film is short (2 hrs 120 minutes) with no uneventful moment. The start of the film is dominated by Abhishek and end by Amitabh.
The story of the film is about Subhash Sarkar and his enemies, two political leaders, Hassan Qazi and deputy Chief Minister Kanga, who make plans to get rid of Sarkar and his regime and they talk with an international company Sheppard Power Plant to plan their purpose.
Anita is CEO of Sheppard Power Plant, a foreign company and she wants to build a power plant in rural Maharashtra. Anita meets Shankar and explains to him the benefit of the project. Shankar gets convinced and takes Anita to reach various villages of Maharashtra and get support from locals. But Sarkar is not convinced with the project because it will destroy homes in the village and the plant is to be built in the village where Sarkar's guru Rao Saab resides but on asking Rao Saab, Anita and Shanker get sanctioned for the project.
Another political character Sanjay Somji who matches real life Raj Thackeray (in looks) is expert at provoking villagers against the project and one day the political rivalry leads to explosion in Shankar's car. Series of incidents lead Sarkar to hospital after he suffers a heart attack where Sarkar has meeting with the press. In another sequence Anita falls in love with already married Shankar and she later faces Shankar's wife over the accusation of her alleged relation with Shankar.
The whole film has the background sounds of Govinda ..Govinda and thats inspiring. After many twists and turns the story gets to the climax enlightening the actual plot behind all the drama.
The script by Prashant Pandey's is appealing; background by Amar Mohile's is brilliant; Amit Roy's cinematography is outstanding. The film has been mostly shot in Indian village kind of locations. Performance of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek are impressive. RGV has tried his best to make up with his mistakes in previous films and done justice to a sequel of a good movie.
The audience looking for Indian political stories and looking to non-Yash Raj movies, will love to watch the movie and youth will also like the film. The film is not for kids and people who dislike politics. The film will also get audience in small towns of India.
